Paga Crocodile Pond

The paga crocodile pond  The paga crocodile pond  also known as the chief' s pond is located in paga in the Upper East region of Ghana. The pond is inhabited by wild West African crocodiles . Some crocodiles found in this pond can be as old as 90 years. Astonishingly, these crocs are so tamed that local children can swim in the pond alongside the crocodiles without being harmed by the crocodiles.  It is believed that some 600 years ago a crocodile brought a dying man to the pond to drink, who after surviving, declared the pond to be sacred and that no harm should come to the crocodile. Another story states that a man was trapped against the water's edge by a lion , when he bargained with a crocodile that none of his children would harm his kind if he would kill the lion. Due to the friendly nature of the crocodiles visitors come around to hold the crocodiles, sit on them and take pictures with them. A Youtube video showing the Paga Crocodile Pond: Paga Crocodile Pond
